Ten Things Not To Do when purchasing a home
- Do not buy any large purchases on credit; cars, appliances, TV’s, etc.
- Do not open any new credit cards, don’t even apply – it will show up.
- Do not suddenly pay off debts and collections or close accounts.
- Do not pay down any credit cards, cars etc. – talk with your lender first.
- Do not change jobs – unless in same industry or line of work
- Do not pack these away, keep them available; W-2 forms, tax returns, bank statements, pay stubs, etc.
- Do not choose a mortgage based just on interest rate.
- Do not allow emotions to take over
- Do not give money to anyone but Escrow (your realtor will turn your earnest fund check into escrow).
- Do not panic – Every purchase will have it’s own issues – from small to large – your realtor will be there to work through them.
